The red blocks indicate the regular count. For example,

    For 4 bars, it's 1-2-3-4::1-2-3-4

    For 3 bars, it's 1-2-3::1-2-3

Each bar can have sub-division indicated by notes/bar. For example, for 4 bars with 3 notes/bar, 3 notes will be played for single bar, totaling 12 notes in single cycle. The rhythm will sound like 1.a.b-2.a.b-3.a.b-4.a.b::1.a.b-2.a.b-3.a.b-4.a.b
